Pip's fundraiser for Macmillan (4th May Half Marathon)

Local Run for Macmillan · 31 December 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
In August last year my lovely mum, Lucy, was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer. My family’s lives have been turned upside down since then, with so many new challenges which no one could have prepared us for.
The support from friends, family and colleagues has been nothing short of incredible, both to us and to mum. In addition to that the stories, support leaflets and network from MacMillan in the many hospitals we’ve visited over the past few months have been so so helpful in navigating a really tough time.
I’ll be running the Victoria Park Half Marathon (potentially with wig) on 4th May to raise money for Macmillian and in an act of slight selfishness as exercise has been one consistent activity which has lifted me out of moments of sadness.
Mum is still with us but the picture isn’t rosey. I just hope that this goes some way to supporting other families who go through anything similar.
UPDATE: Having initially set a target of £500 that was completely blown out of the water by everyone’s generosity so I’m setting my goal higher!
FURTHER UPDATE: Mum sadly passed away on 13th May 2025, surrounded by her closest family. As we all continue our lives, she’ll forever remain with us.
