On Sunday 25th May 2025, a few old fellas (50+) and a young whippersnapper are planning to hike 18 miles from Heywood to Bleakholt.

We will not be walking in a straight line or down the road instead we have chosen as challenging a route as we could work out. We will be walking via Norden, over Greenbooth up and down Knowle Hill, passing Waugh Well finishing at Bleakholt.

Given that I'm unfit and unprepared, this will get a little painful, so wish me all the best! Hopefully, one of the others will help push me along. I’ll definitely be looking forward to a pint in Owd Betts afterwards!

All going to plan, we expect this to take around 8 hours.

All money raised will be donated to Bleakholt animal sanctuary. Bleakholt care for animals who have no one to care for them.

Each year they help over 1,300 animals seeking to re-home them where possible or to provide them a home where this is not. They need our help more than ever to continue to do this.
