Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homeless charity. Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 16-25 year olds into a home and a job every year. Our award-winning helpline provides support to vulnerable young people across the country. We campaign to end youth homelessness by 2037.

Story

Hi!

I know so many people are raising money these days; it's great, but it can also be overwhelming. So thank you for even considering this.

I'm raising money for Centrepoint because, as a young teenager, my family became homeless, and I was sent into the care of a retired couple - who were neither vetted nor safe. I smothered my head with my pillow each night, trying to muffle out the sounds of the drunk wife hurling insults and crockery at her husband and the wall beneath my room. I eventually returned to my family for a while, but later in my teens, I found myself living in a hostel, trying to escape an increasingly difficult home situation. It was the worst time of my life.

Sadly, the numbers of young people on the streets and without homes, for one reason or another, are getting worse. I remember the loneliness and isolation all too well, and Centrepoint's work to support young people in this situation is life-changing and can honestly be the difference between life and death.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast, and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity, and you won't be bombarded with anything other than a thank you. It's an efficient way to give - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
