Suffering at the London Marathon for the Sutton Trust

Pip Moss is raising money for The Sutton Trust

London Marathon 2026 · 26 April 2026 ·

The Sutton Trust is the UK’s leading social mobility charity. We believe every young person should have a fair chance in life, regardless of their family’s income, the school they go to or where they grow up. We champion social mobility through programmes, research and policy influence.

Story

This year I'll be fulfilling a foolish personal goal and doing something good at the same time.

The Sutton Trust is a charity working to ensure everyone from every background gets a good education and a fair shot at life. They produced a bunch of depressing reports during Covid about the impact home-learning had on children in deprivation, and a bunch of heartening recommendations after Covid and since about what can be done to close the gap.

As a man who would make a terrible teacher, my way of helping is to run the London Marathon in April, after training for the London Marathon in the endless rain of the London Winter.

Running the marathon is several hours of pain and suffering, and hopefully enough to inspire you to donate. But if it isn't, then please remember the months of training for the marathon which is not only far more hours of pain, suffering, and cold toes - but without any of the excitement or crowds of the real thing.

But it will all be worth it, if you donate and help me help The Sutton Trust.

(The picture is me at a fancy dress Half Marathon last year. I'm Ken from The Barbie Movie, but you already knew that because of how great my costume was right?)
