This year, I have the great privilege of being Captain of Warrington Golf Club. This gives me the opportunity to raise money for a charity that means something very personal to me and my family.

I have chosen to raise funds for Kidneys for Life in memory of my sister, Katharine, who passed away from kidney failure 26 years ago, at just 40 years of age, while waiting for a transplant.

You will probably think I have gone mad or completely lost my marbles, but I have decided to take on a challenge which takes me completely out of my usual comfort zone!! 

So on Wednesday 21st October, I will be strapping myself to the top of a Boeing Stearman biplane and taking to the skies in a terrifying Wingwalk!

If you are able to sponsor me, however large or small the amount, I would be enormously grateful. Every donation will help support great work that makes a real difference to kidney patients and their families.

Kidneys for Life funds vital research into kidney disease, dialysis and transplantation, including research aimed at improving treatments, detecting kidney disease earlier and helping transplanted kidneys last longer. The charity also supports the education and training of renal teams and provides equipment and amenities that benefit kidney and transplant patients.

Our Lady Captain, Barbara Bradley, has chosen St Rocco’s Hospice as her Captain’s charity, a very worthy cause which is particularly dear to her. We have agreed that everything we raise between us during our captaincy year will be split equally between our two charities, including all donations from my Wingwalk challenge.
