ERC works to ensure the protection and survival of rhinos in the wild through funding anti-poaching & K9 teams, conservation efforts for wildlife and habitat, educational programs for students and donors, and research to ensure the preservation of a core population of white rhinos in South Africa.

Story

For the last 20 years, Animal degree students at Plumpton College have been undertaking an annual field trip to a wildlife reserve in South Africa. At this reserve, students learn a variety of conservation management skills and have an opportunity to study an incredible array of African wildlife species, including the Southern white rhino.

Every night and day, the amazing reserve staff and volunteers work tirelessly to protect the Southern white rhino, as well as helping to inspire the next generation of conservationists. However, in order to continue this essential conservation work, the reserve needs your help!

Therefore, we are hoping to raise as much money as possible to support this reserve with ongoing conservation efforts, including helping to purchase new equipment for the anti poaching staff and buying food for the working protection dogs on the reserve.

Plumpton Animal degree students are therefore hosting a sponsored walk from Plumpton College to One Garden Brighton (7.6 miles) on Monday 12th February, to raise essential funds to support this special cause. As well as this, we are hosting a charity show jumping event, and some fundraising stalls selling jewellery and cakes!
