Story
👑 The Reign Awards is proud to support Project PMM2
Steve, one of our Still Standing Award nominees, is raising funds in honour of his daughter Ruby.
Project PMM2 exists to fund research into a cure for PMM2-CDG, the most common form of Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation — a multi-system condition that affects every organ in the body, including the brain, and leads to serious illness and severe disability.
Ruby, the daughter of Steve and Elle, lived with PMM2-CDG.
She spent her entire life, two and a half years, at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where her parents stayed by her side, taking turns to be with her every single night.
In June, Ruby became the first child in Europe with her condition to receive a liver transplant.
It brought hope and improved quality of life, but sadly, her illness ultimately overwhelmed her.
Ruby passed away on 27 January 2026 and is missed beyond words.
Her story touched far beyond her family.
She appeared on the front page of The Times 2 supplement, became the face of Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Christmas campaign in 2025, and was lovingly known as the “Arsenal baby”, with her story shared across matchday programmes and wider initiatives.
Through Project PMM2, Steve and Elle are supporting the researchers and clinicians working towards a cure — in the hope that other families may have a different outcome.
