Wear something purple · 23 February 2024

LGBT Youth Scotland is Scotland’s national charity for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer & Questioning and Intersex (LGBTQ+) young people. LGBTQ+ young people face unique and additional barriers to realising their potential and that is why LGBT Youth Scotland exists.

Story

Friday 23rd of February is Purple Friday. Why purple? Good question! The purple stripe on the Pride flag stands for ‘spirit’; The spirit of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. So LGBT Youth Scotland created a day to celebrate that spirit and bring people together to build a better Scotland for LGBTQ+ young people.

How can you get involved and support the amazing work of LGBT Youth Scotland? By wearing something purple to work on purple Friday.

The Scottish LGBTI Police Association is encouraging everyone in Police Scotland / SPA to wear something purple on Friday 23rd February. We appreciate this might be challenging if you are an operational police officer... so why not wear a pair of purple socks?! If you don't work in uniform, we encourage you to be creative and wear anything purple to show your support.

LGBT Youth Scotland is the national charity for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) young people.

Life can be tough for any young person, but LGBTI young people face unique and additional barriers and that is why LGBT Youth Scotland exists. We believe Scotland can be a place where all young people can thrive and flourish, and we work alongside young people to remove those barriers; supporting young people individually, and amplifying their collective voices to influence change.

Thank you for supporting our vital work.
