Story
I am running the 2026 Hackney Half Marathon to raise money for the amazing work Single Homeless Project does in London.
SHP was started by six homeless men in 1975 who wanted to create change. Nowadays, SHP helps 10,000 Londoners oper year into employment and out of rough sleeping with their support.
They also have a lovely initiative around Christmas time, where you can buy a homeless person a Christmas dinner for £12, which is how I personally came across the charity and discovered the work they do
Each day across all 32 London boroughs, SHP's staff work with individuals to tackle the underlying causes of homelessness, such as poor mental health or drug and alcohol dependency.
Often that means being there for people at a critical time, whether to prevent their eviction or help them off the street; to get them into drug or alcohol treatment or support them with their mental health; or to help them find a job and a flat so that the so that they can take the final steps to living on their own.
I feel really passionately about this brilliant charity so if you can donate anything at all to support their work, I'd be so grateful!
Thanks
