Story
If you knew Mike Parker, you remember him. A huge, warm personality with natural charisma, he was a born leader and patriarch. He loved his wife Polly, children Sarah, Richard, and his six grandchildren more than anything and lived his life with a deep sense of responsibility and duty towards his extended family, friends, and work colleagues. At the age of sixty-seven, Mike was sadly diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia, a particularly challenging and cruel disease. He battled on courageously for his remaining years, and although the old Mike was still in there, he became an increasingly diminished figure.
Polly is passionate about spreading awareness of Lewy Body's, so that people are as familiar with its symptoms as they are with the better known Alzheimer's. To that end, she has organised this auction with all proceeds going to the charitable organisation, 'The Lewy Body Society', based in Wigan. `By bidding for one of these lots, you are supporting a wonderful charity but also paying tribute to Mike, a man more than worthy of the honour.
CW
The Lewy Body Society was founded in 2006 to support research into Lewy body dementia and to raise awareness of the disease. We aim to educate the public, the medical professions and those in decision-making positions about the disease, which unfortunately is still not well known.
