Story
I have the honour of running the London Marathon next year for Lymphoma Action, a cause very close to my heart.
I’m a CAR-T cell therapy clinical nurse specialist, looking after patients with lymphoma and leukaemia. CAR-T cell therapy is an incredible treatment option for some patients, that can offer the chance of a cure from their disease. However, there is still a significant number of patients that both this therapy, and other therapies, will not work for. Ongoing work through research and charities such as Lymphoma Action are pivotal in developing future treatment options and providing support for patients.
I do this job for not only the success stories, but I also have the privilege to care for patients and their families when treatment options fail and lead to devastating consequences. Although in these circumstances it breaks my heart every time, I continue to do this job as I get the opportunity to make these horrendous moments slightly more bearable for patients and their families.
Lymphoma action is the UK's only charity dedicated to lymphoma, the 5th most common cancer. They've been providing trusted information and support for over 35 years, helping thousands of people affected by lymphoma. Their mission is to make sure no one faces lymphoma alone and this charity is so close to my heart as this is my daily mission. Any donations would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you
Polly xx
