Project Play: Kenya 2024 · 1 June 2024 to 31 August 2024 ·

Play Action International works across the world to help refugee s and other vulnerable children to learn, develop and heal through the power of play.

Story

Hi, I’m Poppy.

I’m a second year student at Cardiff Uni. I am studying Social Science. This summer I am taking part in Play Action International’s (PPI) project in Kenya. PPI “work in disadvantaged communities, focusing on enhancing children’s learning, development and access to education through play.”

I will be visiting Kenya in June 2024 for 2 weeks as part of a team building a playground for the community. We will be building the playground from scratch and transforming an empty field into a vibrant playground with the help of the Kenyan team as well. I will take part in all aspects of the work from building, digging, painting etc.

I will also have the opportunity to work with the students at the local school. We will be sharing our creative ideas of play and helping to introduce various ways to enhance the students education.

I am hoping to raise money and would really welcome your support for this amazing opportunity!!

Your generous support will enable Play Action International to create a legacy of play within the local community where so that we can create an environment where children's development and well-being are supported and children are able to learn essential skills that will allow them to reach their potential. Join us in creating a legacy of play, laughter, growth, and endless possibilities.

As a result of playgrounds being built, schools report that:

- 98% report an increase in attendance in school.

- 74% of children gave 'The Playground' as a reason to attend school.

- 83% of teachers reported improvements in children's attention and behaviour in classes.

Donate now to play a key role in supporting this amazing project, ensuring that every swing, slide, and moment of fun contributes to a brighter future for the children, school and wider community. We're incredibly grateful for your support!
