Story
Suicide is the biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK and research has shown that every one of these preventable tragedies affects around 135 people.
I would like to do my part to try to combat this, so to mark my 40th birthday (January 2025), I am planning to undertake three increasingly difficult ultra-distance self-supported (and self-funded!) cycling challenges to raise money for Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) - a British suicide prevention charity.
Every penny raised will help CALM to take calls to support those who feel that they have no options, no hope and no future... your donations will really help: together we might just save a life. Please help.
For my first challenge, I am looking to raise £610 which is enough for CALM to fund 50 potentially life-saving calls. To raise these funds, I intend to cycle 450km / 270miles in 36 hours as I ride self-supported from my home in Wivenhoe, Colchester to Melton Mowbray (returning the following day).
As an added element to this challenge, Ye Olde Porkpie Shoppe of Melton Mowbray closes at 4pm, so I aim to really push myself and finish my first leg (216km/134 miles) by 3:30pm!
Handelsbanken have very kindly agreed to match the first £500 I raise (thank you Handelsbanken!), so with every £1 raised being doubled, your donation will really make a difference to this fantastic charity!
Thank you for all of your support!
