Danny Seal Marathon for Aspire

Porters Park is raising money for Aspire

Original Marathon IX 2026 · 7 March 2026 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

I’m taking on the Original Marathon to raise money for Aspire, a charity that supports people living with spinal cord injuries to rebuild their lives and regain independence, and also this year's Porters Park Charity.

Having seen the Aspire hospital and leisure facility, and the tremendous work all the doctors, nurses, and volunteers do to support such courageous patients with life-changing injuries running a marathon seems a small feat in comparison.

A spinal injury can change everything in an instant, and Aspire is there to help people navigate the physical, emotional and practical challenges that follow — from specialist equipment and rehabilitation to advice, support and hope for the future.

Running 26.2 miles (Original Marathon is actually 27.2....) will be one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, but it’s a challenge I’m proud to take on in support of a charity that makes such a powerful, life-changing difference every day.

If you’re able to donate, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every contribution, big or small, will help Aspire continue their vital work and support more people when they need it most.

Thank you so much for your support — it truly means a lot.
