As you may know, my attempt at the MacMac Ultra Trail in June, was scuppered by covid.

I have recovered well, and I have an opportunity to attempt a local 'equivalent' on my weekend off, from 16 -19th August.

'Not quite a MacMac,' because I will attempt a 200 mile run, but without the exact parameters of the South African event.

I have an 11km route which takes me out from Cheddar along the drove roads, and then up The Mendips via Draycott, and along the West Mendip Way, back to Cheddar via Bradley Cross and Mascall's Wood, and The Lippiatt. This route alleviates the requirement of aid stations and seconds, but will provide quite a physical and mental challenge, all the same.

I will be using this event to complete the challenge I'd set myself, and more importantly, a continuation of the fundraising opportunity for the fabulous local charity, THE SPACE.

THE SPACE supports local young people aged 4-17 years living or being educated in the Cheddar Valley area, experiencing low mental health and emotional resilience and often in crisis e.g. depression, anxiety, attempted suicide, etc. potentially caused by several issues, including abuse, neglect, loss and trauma.

It costs a minimum of £500 for every young person counselled and supported. Your donation is valued and every penny goes to support our local children, young people and families.
