Story
**THE PRIZE DRAW IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR DONATIONS. THE WINNER WILL BE NOTIFIED BY EMAIL**
Over the past 20 months, I have been shocked and heartbroken by the impact of conflict and war in Gaza on the civilian population. The humanitarian crisis has escalated to catastrophic proportions. I have sent multiple emails to my MP and signed many petitions. Offering this piece that I have made to raise funds for Medical Aid for Palestinians seems like a small, positive action that I can take.
I hope that a lasting ceasefire can be reached, hostages are freed and that all civilians in the region are able to rebuild and live in peace and safety, whatever their religion. I have chosen to raise money for MAP as the need for emergency medical care in Gaza is overwhelming.
To enter you can donate to Medical Aid for Palestinians here or you can enter for free by emailing the address below.
Each entry will place your name into the hat.
The Charity Prize Draw will close at midnight on 1st July 2025. The winner will be picked at random by me on 2nd July 2025.

About the prize:
This vase was thrown on the potters wheel from stoneware clay, trimmed and bisque fired. I then hand painted the lettering using wax resist before applying glaze and raku firing the piece. Raku involves heating the pot up to 1000 degrees celsius, then removing from the kiln when red hot and placing into a bucket of combustible materials to smoke and reduce. This is a dramatic process and the pot changes temperature quickly. Due to the thermal shock, a crack formed. I carefully extended the crack so that the pot was in pieces, then mended it using the 'modern' kintsugi method with gold powder and epoxy glue. This is a decorative art piece.
