Pownall green 100 mile bike ride

Andrew Brigg is raising money for Pownall Green Primary School PTA

Pownall Green 100 Mile Centurion Ride · 20 July 2025

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) brings staff and families together with a common goal: to make our children’s time at primary school as rewarding as possible.

Story

20 Mums and Dads will attempt to ride 100 miles (161km). A circular route out to Southport and back to Bramhall in a day. The ride is sponsored and aims to raise money for Pownall Green Primary school.

Story

Between 2010 and 2020, spending per pupil in England fell by 9 per cent in real terms. The cost of living crisis has hit public services particularly hard. Schools have rising costs that despite a pledge by the government, means that the average primary school funding has faced a cut of around £40,000 compared to 2010. (Education policy institute, Oct 2022)

The funds raised by the PTA are becoming increasingly important in funding special projects which otherwise would not be able to go ahead.

As parents we all want a positive experience for our children so hope you'll help fund a number of keys projects across the school over 2025 and 2026

IT Project

Replacement of all the Laptops within the It suit to support advances Operating systems and software, so that every child in the class can work of a dedicated machine instead of sharing 3-1.

Shakespeare Project

The school runs a PTA subsidised workshop for year 5 pupils, who go on a 2 day workshop where they explore the world of Shakespeare. A visit to the Lowry and drama workshops and lots more activities to engage and learn.

We would like to try and expand that workshop to Year 3, 4 and 5 with the help of this years fundraising.
