Story

The Get Busy Living Centre provides expert physiotherapy, specialist personal training, support, mentoring and advice to people suffering a life-changing injury through sport. It's a unique facility which opened its doors in 2018 and is the brainchild of founder and former England and Leicester Tigers rugby player Matt Hampson, who himself experienced a life-changing injury in 2005 leaving him paralysed from the neck down, aged just 20.

Building a sense of community is central to the Matt Hampson Foundation. In the aftermath of an incident which leads to a life-changing injury most people and their families feel isolated with an overwhelming sense of loss for what has been taken away from them.

In October 2024, former employee and (brother in law) Michael Walters, was diagnosed with the debilitating disease MND (Motor Neurone Disease). As a former Lutterworth Rugby Club player, he was signposted to the Matt Hampson Foundation. At a time when hope was at a low, the foundation has supported Mike to ‘Get busy living’. He goes to the foundation every week for physiotherapy and they have been able to support with advice on funding and access to specialist equipment. The foundation has given Mike and his family ‘hope’. Mike uses the foundation and looks forward to his weekly visits.

Midlands Care have now committed to help the foundation into the future and this walk is the start of what will be a long term relationship with a foundation that offers those with life changing injuries the sanctuary to prepare to ‘Get busy living’. The whole vibe and atmosphere is one of support and serenity. The people who support the foundation are all caring and compassionate and Matt’s vision and values are lived by all every day.

This is why we are completing this 15 mile walk with Mike to raise funds for this amazing foundation.

Please donate generously.
