Story
It has been just over a year since my brother experienced a cardiac arrest. The grieving process has been long and challenging, and I often find myself reflecting on how someone who appeared so healthy and fit could face such a sudden tragedy. As I run in Yateley, I remember the times he encouraged me to find my rhythm and breathe steadily. This heart condition was unknown to us, leaving us in shock and sorrow.
I am running the TCS London Marathon 2025 in memory of my brother, with the hope of raising funds for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY). Every week in the UK, at least 12 young people lose their lives due to undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its inception in 1995, CRY has tirelessly worked to reduce the occurrence of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). They provide vital support for young individuals diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offer bereavement assistance to families affected by YSCD.
CRY is dedicated to promoting heart screening programs and funding essential medical research. They also publish important medical information authored by leading cardiologists for public awareness. By supporting this cause, we can help save lives and prevent other families from experiencing the pain that we have endured.
I kindly ask for your support as I aim to raise £1,000 for CRY. Your contribution will make a significant difference in advancing their mission and ensuring that more young people receive the care they need. Together, we can create a future where no family has to suffer from such devastating loss.
