Steve's fundraiser for PRDA (Pelvic Radiation Disease Association)

Steve Simmonds is raising money for PRDA (Pelvic Radiation Disease Association)

Weightlifting - bench press · 3 August 2025

A charity operating across the UK to reach and support all people affected by Pelvic Radiation Disease (PRD) following treatment for cancers, and to campaign for wider recognition and improved treatment in the NHS.

Story

I'm a Trustee of the Pelvic Radiation Disease Association, and want to raise vital funds for the charity.

Pelvic Radiation Disease affects people who have previously had radiotherapy to the pelvic region, to treat their cancer. It can blight a patient's life with ongoing, debilitating effects.

PRDA does excellent work in helping patients, and the doctors & nurses who treat them. The charity provides support, resources and information. For example "Out and About Toolkits", with RADAR keys for disabled toilets, and much more besides.

From Sunday 03 August, for one week, I'll be doing a weightlifting (bench press) challenge for PRDA. There are 22 letters in "Pelvic Radiation Disease", so over the week I'll be doing 22 sets of 22 reps with 60Kg on the bench. So 4 sets some days, and 3 sets on other days.

If I could get 50 people to donate, ooh say £22 each, then that would be over £1K for the charity, which would be amazing. And would go straight to where it can make the most difference.
