Story
Priory School have been running a 100-mile Cycle Challenge for approximately 29 years and this year will be cycling to Darsham, Saxmundham for a one-night stay before returning back to Bury St. Edmunds. This year we have decided to support Suffolk Mind for our charity. Everyone can associate with Mental Health and we feel this challenge is a great way to highlight the positive impact that both exercise and person achievement can have on Mental health.
11 students, staff from Priory School and West Suffolk College in addition to some volunteers will be taking on this year's challenge. Priory School is a special school based in Bury St. Edmunds, working with students with moderate learning difficulties. Every year a group of students take on this challenge and every year they impress everyone around with their determination, resilience and team spirit. This is certainly a challenge that they can look back on with immense pride and positivity. Our Cycling events are supported by West Suffolk Wheelers, creating what we hope to be a powerful association.
Our aim is very much to use Cycling and other forms of exercise as a vehicle to highlight the benefits to individual's physical and mental wellbeing.
Suffolk Mind is an independent charity whose mission is to make the county the best place in the world for talking about and taking care of mental health. To meet that mission, we provide a range of wellbeing services, courses and resources for individuals, schools, workplaces and community groups. This includes counselling services, mental health support groups, and wellbeing training for organisations. A number of our services are open for self-referral.
