The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation was launched by Sir Bobby to help find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer. Working within the NHS, we fund cutting-edge cancer treatment and innovative cancer services.

Story

As part of the Citizenship Pillar within the Product Team we have committed to raise money for charity's across the UK which can be attended by local colleagues. Some of these colleagues have had family who have been supported by the charity hence why we choose this foundation.

This walk will be hosted by the North East Product team with money raised mainly by local colleague's across the business.

On Friday 28th March colleagues from across the Nort East will be walking a length of a 9 mile stretch of Hadrian's Wall. We will be walking from the Roman Museum to the Sycamore Gap which will take around 4 hours.

Update: walk was completed in 4hours and 10 minutes in torrential rain and high winds but it was worth it. Attendees: Luke Jackson, Sarah Flounders, Carla Grant, David Taff, Liam Waters, Michael Webster and Jordan Yeo.

We want to raised as much money as possible to support this amazing foundation!

Sir Bobby Robson launched his Foundation to help find more effective ways to detect and treat cancer, after a request for help from his oncologist Professor Ruth Plummer. She was treating Sir Bobby as he faced cancer for the fifth and what he knew would be the final time.

She needed to raise £500,000 to equip a new cancer drug trials center at the Northern Centre for Cancer Care in Newcastle upon Tyne and asked him if he knew anyone who might like to donate.

Sir Bobby responded by launching a charity to get the money she needed. He described it as like being at the helm of a team again. What he called his last and greatest team.
