Story
The month of June is a big one for Project Play!
The 11th of June marks the UN's new International Day for Play and the 12th-23rd of June marks Refugee Week.
The UN has brought in the International Day for Play to recognise the importance of play in a child's development and well-being. They say that 'play is never just play' and we couldn't agree more!
On our sessions, play fosters connections, gives children an opportunity to process and explore the world around them alongside developing their sense of self and new skills. We feel so lucky to watch such magic happen.
We shall be celebrating this day with our amazing partners Make-Do Play and hope lots of other individuals and groups with get playful with us!
Alongside this, Refugee Week gives us all a great opportunity and the tools to get a conversation started. It helps to challenge the narrative and celebrate individuals and organisations that add so much to our lives.
During this week, we shall be holding our long awaited art auction - so keep your eyes peeled...
Over May and June we want to try and raise £7500 through our events and celebrations. This is one month's running costs. In one month we:
- bring play to over 100 children
- 30+ sessions
- more that 50 hours of play!!!
If you would like to support us to reach our goal, thank you. Every pound goes directly to sustaining our service.
-£5 buys an activity bag to gift to children after an eviction
-£10 buys resources for one session
-£20 provides daily fuel (not sexy - but oh so important!)
-£50 buys a set of Kurdish/ Farsi/ Arabic books
-£125 provides fuel for a week
-£650 covers living expenses for a coordinator for a month
Let's get playing and feel the power of play!
As always, our gratitude and big love.
