Story
Seven of football's finest 6-a-side team (Project Zeus) are taking part in a gruelling Tough Mudder - inspiring confidence amongst other competitors that they won't be the last to finish and raising funds for a truly important cause.
On Saturday 27th July in the chilling Yorkshire winds we will navigate the muddy fields of Broughton Hall through an array of challenging obstacles.
As much as our football ability brings joy to tens of people every Tuesday night, we also wanted to undertake this challenge for a bigger cause helping millions of people worldwide.
We are proud to be running for the global charity, Encephalitis International. A charity close to one of our team's hearts after his auntie received an encephalitis diagnosis a few years ago.
Encephalitis is a devastating brain condition. Worldwide, a person is diagnosed with encephalitis (brain inflammation) every minute. It affects over 500,000 children and adults every year, with the Covid-19 pandemic causing a further 1.5 million new cases, and has a higher incidence rate in many countries than motor-neurone disease, bacterial meningitis and cerebral palsy, all conditions with much higher awareness. Those who do survive the condition - as many as 4/10 people do not - are left with an acquired brain injury and life for them and their family will never be the same.
Anything you can give to help us shake off a fake last minute injury would be ace! Thank you!!
