On Sunday, 3rd May 2026, we have 6 teams from Proper Cornish who will be taking part in the Lions Club of Bodmin’s Ten Tors 43rd Annual Walk. It’s a grueling 13 mile walk over moorland, up and down some of the highest hills in Cornwall! Although we are expecting blisters and aching feet, it’s all in aid of a good cause as we are raising funds for The Hugs Foundation in Bodmin, which has been Proper Cornish’s chosen charity since 2018.

The Hugs Foundation is a registered charity whose multiple aims are to; rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted, abused and abandoned horses and ponies, improve children and young people’s mental and physical well-being and increase social inclusion amongst the elderly. Their services include supportive interventions to children, young people and the elderly who are experiencing a range of problems including disadvantages, mental ill health, physical and learning disabilities, trauma, abuse and social isolation. Their work is making positive changes to lives 💚🐴

Over recent years The Hugs Foundation has seen significant increases in the number of people who are giving up the care of their horses, donkeys, and other farm animals. This has put increased strain on The Hugs Foundation who now, more than ever, are in need of our support!
