Step Up To Sepsis is more than just a fundraising challenge; it's a chance to make a difference. Together, we can save thousands of lives.

Story

Proskauer Rose London is Stepping Up To Sepsis to help in the challenge of saving thousands of lives from this preventable condition as part of Sepsis Awareness Month and leading up to World Sepsis Day on 13 September.

We will be trying to take as many steps as possible between the beginning of Monday 8th and the end of Friday 12th September.

Why sepsis you might ask? Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK. That’s one every 5 hours and more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

While difficult to diagnose, early identification and treatment can significantly improve recovery, prevent deaths and minimise the potential adverse health outcomes often associated with recovery from sepsis.

The UK Sepsis Trust is the main charity in the UK working to raise awareness about sepsis and its symptoms, for both the public and medical professionals, lobbying for better sepsis treatment nationally and providing support for both the bereaved and survivors of sepsis.

Unfortunately we at Proskauer know only too well about the devastation that sepsis can wreak.

So if you can please donate and take some time to educate yourself about sepsis symptoms here - you never know but being able to identify potential sepsis symptoms might just save the life of someone you love.
