Step Up To Sepsis is more than just a fundraising challenge; it's a chance to make a difference. Together, we can save thousands of lives.

Story

Teams from Proskauer Rose LLP are taking on the Step Up To Sepsis challenge as part of Sepsis Awareness Month and leading up to World Sepsis Day on 13 September.

We will be trying to take as many steps as possible between the beginning of Monday 1st and the end of Friday 5th September.

Why Sepsis you might ask? This insidious condition takes an estimated 5 lives every hour in the UK (that's 48,000 a year), but thousands of deaths each year are avoidable since sepsis is often treatable if caught quickly. In addition many others are left with life changing consequences of suffering and surviving sepsis. An IPSOS Mori poll commissioned by the UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) found that while 80% of people in the UK have heard of sepsis, 1 in 3 wouldn’t treat sepsis as a life-threatening medical emergency, and fewer couldn’t recognise at least one of the signs

The money raised by this challenge will help UKST to widen its sepsis awareness programme that seeks to raise awareness about the signs of sepsis and the importance of treating it as early as possible across both the medical profession and the general public as well as providing support groups for sepsis survivors and people left bereaved by the death of their loved ones.

Thank you for your generosity if you feel able to donate to this important cause and if not please take a few minutes to increase your awareness about sepsis and its signs with this Sepsis Savvy resource.
