Last year one of our colleagues Issy received some incredibly difficult news. Her 23-year-old brother Alex, who is a promising medical student, was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour.

Traditional NHS funded treatment is no longer working for him, so it has become more urgent that he can access privately funded treatment abroad to give him the best possible chance of fighting this. The family need to raise £200k and time is of the essence. The fundraiser is being run in partnership with the charity Brainstrust and any unused funds will be utilised by the charity to support others in a similar situation to Alex.

We are looking to help fundraise by walking/running a 5k distance as a department by the Thames on Tuesday 3rd February.
