Story
For my 35th birthday I’m going to complete a half marathon. This challenge also marks 2 years of sobriety. Understanding that I am an addict was the biggest challenge in my life however I developed a taste for said challenges. I choose to fundraise for the open road as they have supported many in overcoming addiction. Having said that addiction isn’t curable but with correct understanding and active support you can lead a clean and productive life. I remember the deep sense of shame and loneliness when I realised the problem was unmanageable. That was the key as I realised I couldn’t fix it alone. I was stripped of fake confidence and decided to seek help. Now this run is going to be a statement to all addicts still suffering . You are not alone. Remember there is no shame in admitting powerlessness. I remember the paranoia over being “found out”. Which now I find amusing as there was nothing more obvious. So from being out of breath walking for 30 minutes to running 21.1 kilometres goes to show how much I benefited. Now I feel this is the time to give some back so please consider donating as a present for my birthday.
The event is the:
Colchester half marathon 8th of March 2026.
After the event we will be meeting for lunch please pm me for more details.
I am ever so grateful for this opportunity.
Thank you for your time
Respectfully
Przemyslaw Gorzycki 💪
