Help Us Bring Global South LGBTQ+ Activists to the #SaferToBeMe Summit
This October, the North East of England will host something extraordinary: the 2025 #SaferToBeMe Summit, the first week-long global LGBTQ+ summit ever held in the United Kingdom.
At a time when LGBTQ+ rights are under growing threat—from authoritarian regimes, populist backlash, religious fundamentalism, and anti-rights movements—it’s more important than ever to stand together. Under the theme "Local to Global", this summit is a bold act of solidarity, amplifying voices across borders, and building international networks of resistance, resilience, and radical joy.
We are raising funds to bring LGBTQ+ activists from the Global South—those who are most impacted by criminalisation, violence, and systemic oppression—to attend the summit in person.
These activists bring vital lived experience, strategies of resistance, and grassroots expertise that the global movement needs to hear. But too often, they are excluded due to financial barriers, visa restrictions, and lack of institutional support.
Your donation will directly fund:
* Travel and accommodation costs
* Visa fees and application support
* Food and subsistence during the summit
* Access support, interpretation, and safety resources
