Punim's fundraiser for JDRF Edinburgh Marathon

My sister was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 10. She had the classic symptoms of losing weight despite eating a lot more than she normally would, feeling thirsty and drinking a lot of water. She really had lost a lot of weight, it was a family friend who picked up on the signs and recommended that we get her checked out by the GP for Type 1. Because of that we were able to get my sister diagnosed with Type 1 and started on the treatment that she needed (insulin).
Type 1 diabetes is currently incurable however advances such as the closed loop insulin pump and sensor combo have made managing it easier. It is still a scary condition because of the hypoglycaemia risk and all of the long term complications.
I remember the JDRF was there when my sister was getting diagnosed, I still remember the small teddy bear they gave her. The JDRF also works hard to research new treatments and cures for Type 1 Diabetes. They are always in your corner. And for that reason I would like to raise some money for them and spread awareness on the signs of Type 1 Diabetes.
