Story
The team at Purcell Opticians are taking on a 26 mile walking challenge in the Galloway Forest Park this August, to raise vital funds for the Dumfries Macular Society Support Group.
The Dumfries Macular Society Support Group meet every fourth Wednesday at St Georges Hall and is a safe space for those living with sight loss in the area. Purcell Opticians have patients who regularly attend the group and our team members have attended previous meetings in the past to give demonstrations, so it is a group close to our hearts.
Experiencing sight loss can be incredibly isolating and support groups can offer a warm, supportive space for people with macular disease, their families and friends. They’re a welcoming and compassionate place to find support, build confidence and connect with others. And, of course, it’s a chance to make new friends who really understand what sight loss is like.
