Story
This summer, I’m taking on the challenge of climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to the tallest point in Africa. But I’m not just doing it for the views or the adrenaline; I’m doing it to raise vital funds for Student Minds, the UK’s student mental health charity.
As we all know, mental health matters. And for students, it’s more important than ever.
University can be an incredible time of growth and independence, but it can also be overwhelming, isolating, and incredibly stressful. Deadlines, financial pressures, homesickness, and the weight of expectation can take a serious toll on mental well-being. I’ve seen first-hand how tough it can be and how easy it is to feel alone in the struggle.
That’s why I’ve chosen to support Student Minds. They work to empower students to look after their mental health, promoting initiatives such as peer support programmes, training for staff and students, and campaigning to prioritize mental health in higher education.
Climbing Kili is going to push me to my limits: physically and mentally. It’s nearly 6,000 metres above sea level, and the journey to the summit is demanding. But every step I take will be with a purpose: to raise awareness and funds for a meaningful cause.
