Story

About Orpington FC

Orpington FC is a family football club that provides high quality football training and community to local people from the age of 4 years old in Goddington Park, Orpington. We are inclusive and competitive - all about working hard and having fun together to be the best players & teams we can be.

Orpington Football Club has been offering fitness and social opportunities for men, women, boys and girls through grassroots football for over 80 years. They have a thriving youth football offering; a huge number of qualified referees; a Young Leader program and pan-disability SEN Stallion offerings; and the many OFC volunteers - Managers, Coaches and others without whom the Club would not exist.

We are so much more than just a football Club – we are a force for positive action in health, fitness and community in Bromley.

Everyone who wants to play football at OFC can regardless of economic circumstances through our generous financial assistance programme. This supports over 40 U18 players to access football who might not otherwise get the benefits that team sport brings.

25% of OFC members are in the lowest three deciles of the UK Gov’s 2019 data for Indices of Multiple Deprivation compared with 14% across Bromley. This demonstrates. that OFC are currently serving some of Bromley’s neediest children and families. OFC aims to support these families as much as necessary for the players to continue to participate. This can be seen throughout the Club in the amount of financial assistance we provide families, the extra projects that we run to support players and families in need.

Why are we doing this sponsored walk?

Orpington are creating a new community pavilion in Goddington Park to support delivery of health, fitness, sport and community building activities. The proposed location and design of the new Pavilion will deliver a modern, accessible building that the Club would like to extend beyond football activities. It will provide dedicated spaces for training, meetings, and a destination for Club and community training, meeting and events.

The estimated cost of this project is £2.1m and the Club is responsible for finding the

funding to complete this project with no financial support from Bromley Council.
