Story
For more than 20 years, the Northern Province in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been
a breeding ground for armed conflict. Armed groups, Rebellions sow insecurity and have caused thousands of deaths, internally displaced persons and refugees.
In the current context, since May 2022, clashes between the M23 rebel group (Movement of 23 March) and the DRC39;s loyalist forces have caused massive displacement of people from villages to Goma. And to this day, the clashes continue, with people continuing to flee their homes to take refuge in Goma. In Goma, those who are lucky are received in refugee camps, others are hosted by close families, and others sleep under the stars. The latter need shelter to cope with the bad weather.
This December, we are raising 470 GBP to provide 25 plastic tarp shelters to protect 25 displaced families including women and children who have no shelter and who are exposed to the weather and many of the diseases during the current rain season.
This project will cover 3 weeks from December 19 th , 2022.
Week 1: Preparation
Week 2: Distribution of the plastic tarp shelters
Week 3: Evaluation and Report
To facilitate these projects and cover some admin costs for QS World Merit charity to develop the realization of these projects, we have a fixed cost of GBP 250 + 20% of the total amount above the target amount.
