Story
We are fundraising for Heart Research UK in memory of our friend and colleague Quinn Matrix-Baker who passed away on 16th December 2022.
Quinn first realised that he had a problem with his heart when he was studying in the library for his law exams and his heart literally exploded. He was rushed to St Thomas Hospital in London and they managed to repair his heart and Quinn bounced back. If not for the scar down his chest, you would never have known that he had had such life saving surgery. Quinn was a keen sportsman, switching playing American Football which he played a lot back in his homeland of Canada to less contact heavy sports such as tennis and cycling and was incredibly fit and healthy. He took his ‘second chance of life’ very seriously and went for all of his routine checks and medicals.
Fast forward a few years later to December 2022. Quinn had started to feel unwell, after numerous tests in hospital they discovered that he had an infection in his heart and they were attempting to cure it with bespoke antibiotics. They decided that in order to clear out the rest of the infection that it would be best to operate. Unfortunately, the infection was so spread and over 10+ hours of surgery his heart stopped during surgery. He was 24.
In his memory, we aim to raise funds for Heart Research UK. We believe that our contribution can aid in advancing the understanding of heart health through clinical trials and the development of innovative technologies. Our goal is to find new ways to prevent the premature loss of life due to heart complications, continuing Quinn's legacy and potentially saving countless others.
We count on you to make our mission a great success!
