Story
Some Quinton House current year 9 students are aiming to complete the 25km Thames Bridges ultra challenge. This involves zig-zagging across 16 historic bridges over the river - starting at Putney and ending after Tower Bridge.
One of our amazing student's dads has recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and we would like to raise awareness of the lifelong condition.
All students will fund their own places, so all money raised will go directly to the charity.
You can find more about the charity and this chronic disease at www.mssociety.org.uk
What is MS? Multiple sclerosis is a condition that affects your central nervous system. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged, causing a range of symptoms
Over 130,000 people live with MS in the UK. It’s different and unpredictable for everyone, making it hard to know how it’ll progress. At the moment, existing drugs only work on one aspect of MS - the immune system.
To stop MS, we also need to find ways to repair myelin, the protective coating around nerves, damaged in MS. To do this, we need to connect research from the lab right through to the clinic. We need to understand things like how damaged nerves signal for help and how myelin-making cells are activated.
With your help, the MS Society is funding pioneering research. Let's start something amazing in MS research today.
