Being diagnosed with a terminal illness can turn your world upside down. We're here to help people make the most of the time they have left, and provide expert care so that they can die with dignity. Your donation today will help us to be here for people in East London when they need us.

Story

In 2021 I began the process of filming a short documentary covering the heroic sacrifices he had made which brought him to the UK from The Vietnam War and has allowed our family to settle and start a new life here.

Having had limited filming experience myself, it started as a concept inspired from a close friend (Kajeynan Jeyaveerasingam who documented his own grandfather's life before passing). However with the help and guidance of the award-winning short film Director Abigail Parmenter, Film-maker Victor Rios and my support network of family and friends, we were able to complete the film before his passing.

Why am I asking for your help?

Months after he had passed, I made a decision in January 2023 to continue his memory beyond the film by signing up to my first Half Marathon with the goal to eventually run the London Marathon in 2024- this was with very little running experience and having never raced before.

In May 2023 I ran my first Half Marathon for St. Joseph’s Hospice Hackney- a charity 5 minutes from where my Grandad used to live- who provide completely free specialist palliative care to those with life-limiting illness.

My Grandad was fortunate enough to be cared for by my family and paid-for specialists. However there are many who simply cannot afford this and St. Josephs’ symbolises that same heroism which was innate with my Grandfather.

On April 21st I shall be running once again in aid of St. Joseph’s Hospice Hackney, this time for the London Marathon 2024 and ask for your support towards my fundraising target. This money goes towards helping them provide completely free care to those in need, which requires at least £15,000 a day to operate.

If you’re unsure how much you should donate, I would suggest anything around £32.50

This is because 60 donors for that amount would meet my fundraising target- however I would be extremely grateful for any any support no matter how large or small
