Story
As a son who has grown with a mum with Multiple Sclerosis for over 30 years has shaped who I am in more ways than I can count.
So I've decided to run the London Marathon on Sunday 25th April to raise money for MS action at Marjorie Collins Multiple Sclerosis Day and Wellbeing Centre.
From as early as I can remember, helping around the house wasn't something I thought twice about - it was simply part of everyday life. MS has brought countless challenges to our family, but through it all, my mum has never let her condition define her.
Despite the physical struggles she faces every day, she has always shown incredible mental strength, resilience, and determination. She refuses to let MS stop her from living life, and watching her face every obstacle with courage has been one of my greatest inspirations.
Growing up, I've seen firsthand the impact that MS can have, not only on the person living with it but on the whole family. I've also seen the difference that the Centre has made to my mum's life. It has given her so much more than practical support.
It has provided friendship, encouragement, understanding, and a real sense of community. Knowing she has a place where she feels supported has meant the world to both her and our family.
That's why I'm taking on the challenge of running the London Marathon. Every mile I run is for my mum, for everyone living with MS, and for the incredible people at the Marjorie Collins Centre who dedicate their time to helping others live fuller, happier lives.
I'm also running to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis, to support those affected by it, and to raise vital funds for the Centre so they can continue providing the life-changing services and community that mean so much to families like mine.
If my mum has taught me anything, it's that strength isn't measured by how easy life is. It's measured by how you keep going when life is at its toughest. Her resilience inspires me every single day, and I couldn't be prouder to run this marathon in her honour.
