Story

Thank you for looking at my fundraising page for the Histon and Milton community first responder group.

Community first responders are professional volunteers across the East of England who attend life-threatening 999 calls in their local area. They are often first on scene before the ambulance's arrival and able to provide vital life-saving care until the ambulance crews arrive.

I am one of these potentially life-saving volunteers trained by the East of England Ambulance Service and supported by the East of England Ambulance Service Charity covering Milton, Histon and the surrounding villages. I’ve created this page to raise vital donations from generous people like you.

Here’s some information from the charity which may support your decision to help my cause:

As the East of England Ambulance Service Charity, we rely heavily on donations to support volunteers, staff, patients, and the local communities within the East of England in ways above and beyond that which NHS funding can ordinarily provide. Together, we make a difference to support those who help us most in our time of medical need.

Today, we would like to explain how you can support your local community by donating to your community's first responders (CFR).

These incredible volunteers give up their time to support others 24/7, 365 days a year, and here’s why your donation today could really make a difference.

• Your support may help fund CFR enhanced training and additional medical support equipment for the volunteers, including more kit bags, specialised NMA phones (used to allocate, give information to, and map the volunteers to 999 calls) and additional volunteer uniforms.

• Funding could help them to recruit more volunteers through awareness days and at events, which in turn will help provide more local cover for 999 medical emergency calls within your area.

• Donations may enable them to deliver free public awareness training to their communities through the EEAST Heart scheme, which teaches the public essential life-saving skills (CPR and AED usage) so they can respond quickly and appropriately in an emergency.

• Funds may provide realistic training aids to prepare the professional volunteers for real-life scenarios. Our volunteers are given as much information as the person who calls 999 can provide, but they never really know what emergency they are walking into until they are on scene. Practising for a range of scenarios helps make our amazing volunteers professional community responders who support your area today.

Your donation will make a real difference to our NHS heroes. Without support like yours, these initiatives would not be possible.

If you have been inspired and would like to know more about becoming a lifesaving volunteer CFR for East of England Ambulance Service, please contact CFR@eastamb.nhs.uk or visit www.eastamb.nhs.uk

Thank you for anything you can give to help the (Histon & Milton R120 ) community first responders.
