Last month, I watched a powerful documentary by PJ Gallagher that delves into mental health and wellbeing in Ireland in a very genuine and unfiltered manner. PJ doesn't preach to the audience; he simply shares his experiences and discusses what has and hasn't worked for him personally. He explores various methods, including sea swimming off the 40 Foot.
I was deeply moved by the documentary. Thank you, PJ, for sharing your story and helping to normalise a topic that isn't discussed enough. Additionally, as a country, we need to thank Pieta House for all the incredible work you do, providing the country with a free service where people can seek help and support. Running this service costs 17 million euros a year, that's alot of fundraising!
Very honest and open words by PJ describing his thought process when he finally reached out for help,:
"I remember the moment I said to the doctor, 'If I go to hospital, I'll lose my job, lose my friends, what will I have then?' And he said, 'You'll have your life'. That was the first moment I realised, 'Maybe there is some value in that'. It was the greatest thing I've ever done, going in there."
The statistics are alarming, and they need funding to continue their vital services. When I saw that Pieta House set up this challenge, it felt like the perfect opportunity to contribute to their cause.
Every donation is grately appreciated.
Thank you!
