This May I’ll be joining OSCAR’s to walk the Nine Edges in the Peak District. My hope is to raise money for children with brain tumours and their families. I’ll be aiming to walk 23 miles in the hills- joined by my lovely EP colleagues, family and friends. It is much, much further than I’ve ever walked before but I’m keen to give it my all!

This will be a huge challenge for me. Both in terms of my current fitness levels and in trying to avoid one of my exercise triggered migraines! What I do know, is that no matter how tired I get, no matter how sore my feet will be and no matter how much my body will complain, the pain will be nothing in comparison to what children and families who are affected by child brain tumours experience.

I’ll be thinking of those families with every training walk I’m out doing (there will be many!) and with every step of the challenge itself. I hope to raise as much money as possible to support the brilliant work that OSCAR’s do to help make life that little bit better for those in need. This is a charity that is close to my heart, having previously worked at Oscar’s primary school and experiencing the impact of his early illness and his incredible courage. His story is one of unimaginable sadness but also one of strength and hope.
