Story

In aid of Macmillan, I have signed up to walk the Camino de Santiago trail on the last 67km of the famous Camino Frances - the French Way, in September.

Taking part in the Camino de Santiago fundraiser trek for Macmillan is deeply personal for me. It’s not just about the physical challenge—it’s about honouring my late Nana’s incredible legacy while also marking a personal milestone in my own journey.

My Nana was the first-ever Macmillan nurse in Cheshire, dedicating her life to caring for those facing cancer. Her tireless work was recognised when she was nominated for Cheshire Woman of the Year, a testament to her compassion and determination.

In recent years, I’ve faced my own personal challenges, and overcoming them has been a journey in itself. Taking on the Camino de Santiago trek feels like the perfect way to do something truly positive—not just for myself, but in my Nana’s honour. Walking this historic path while raising money for Macmillan is my way of continuing the work she started, ensuring that others receive the same care and support she once provided.

This trek will be both a physical and emotional challenge, but knowing I am doing it for such a meaningful cause will keep me going every step of the way. My Nana never gave up in the face of adversity, and neither will I.

Thanks for supporting my fundraising. Macmillan gives people with cancer everything they’ve got. If you’re diagnosed, your worries are Macmillan’s worries. Macmillan’s doing whatever it takes. But without your help, Macmillan can’t support everyone who needs them.
