Story
2026 marks a huge milestone in my personal journey – 10 years in complete remission from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
I have chosen to support this charity because, during my own illness, the treatment, tests and biopsies were so gruelling that I still struggle to comprehend how a child could endure the same experience. It is truly heartbreaking that parents have to watch their child go through something so horrific. Only those who have been through chemotherapy themselves, or have supported someone close to them, can truly understand just how devastating and heart-wrenching it is.
For this reason, I have decided to mark my 10-year remission anniversary by taking on two physical challenges this year to raise money for this incredible cause.
The first takes place on 11th April, when I will be running a 30km coastal trail run from Porthkerry to Ogmore along the coastal path. This is a distance I never imagined I’d be able to cover. I’ve never labelled myself a “runner” – a sports person, yes, but never a runner. In fact, I used to hate it. Even now, a year on from properly getting into running, I’m still cautious about using that title.
The second challenge comes on June 6th & 7th, when a group of us will be taking part in ENDURE24. Split into two teams, we will be running continuously for 24 hours, pushing ourselves to cover as much distance as possible over that time.
Both challenges will be a huge test for me, but they are ones I am fully committed to training for and completing. Because if a child can endure chemotherapy, I can complete these challenges.
Thank you so much for any support you’re able to give – it truly means more than words can say.
