Story
Back for another year!
I am privileged to rejoin the Barbarians team to compete at the UK Charity Allstars Ice Hockey tournament in Sheffield in 2026!
Anyone that knows me knows I DESPISE running. I can't run 200m without being dramatic and complaining about being near-collapse. I won't even (ironically) run for a cardiac arrest on the ward and my running career consists of making it to week 3 of 10 in a couch to 5k app about 10 years ago. So naturally I've decided that for my fundraising this year I am going to run the Bristol 10k. To validate my insanity, I would massively appreciate any donations towards Calon Hearts as I continue to massively regret my life choices, but never my choice of sport or charity! Bring on Sheffield 2026!
Being part of Team Barbarians meant I was able to choose a charity to fundraise for and I have once again chosen Calon Hearts. Through both experiences in my healthcare career and out and about in the world, I have seen the colossal impact that bystander CPR and rapid access to a defibrillator can make in increasing survival rates in cardiac arrest- Allstars 2023 was a very real reminder of this.
Calon Hearts is a charity that strives to reduce deaths by sudden cardiac arrests through providing heart screenings, training people in CPR and the use of AEDs, and placing defibrillators in communities. Their work is literally life-saving and I hope to be able to support them to continue providing this service across the UK.
Thank you so much for your support! 🖤
