Running for Mila & Families Who Need Support♥️
I’m running the Great North Run — something I never thought I’d say. I’m not a runner and never have been, but sometimes life gives you a reason that’s bigger than excuses.
In October our daughter Mila was diagnosed with a rare metabolic genetic condition called fumarase deficiency. Fewer than 200 people worldwide have been diagnosed. Hearing those words turned our world upside down.
Mila’s condition should be life-threatening, but thankfully, for now, it isn’t — and we are holding onto hope that it stays that way. Her diagnosis has made us truly realise how lucky we are: to have Mila, and to have an incredible family, friends, and employers who support us every step of the way.
Sadly, not every family facing something like this is as fortunate. Many are dealing with unimaginable situations without a strong support network, understanding workplaces, or the practical and emotional help they desperately need.
That’s why I’m running for The Rainbow Trust. They do incredible work supporting families with seriously ill children — offering practical help, emotional support, and simply making life a little easier during the hardest times imaginable.
If running 13.1 miles can help even one family feel less alone, then every step will be worth it.
Thank you so much for reading, sharing, donating, and supporting — it truly means more than I can say. ♥️
