My mum Diane and I are running the London Landmarks Half Marathon to raise funds for Immunodeficiency UK (IDUK), an amazing small charity which supports people like us living with an immunodeficiency.

We don’t look ill, like many people with rare diseases, our condition is invisible. We both have Primary Immunodeficiency, which means that our immune systems don’t work as well as they should – we are more susceptible to coughs, colds and other illnesses, we get sicker quicker and for much longer than normal and we both have lung damage from previous infections.

However, we are lucky enough to be able to exercise, which helps us to combat our condition; many people with immunodeficiencies can’t do this. IDUK provides the most amazing support, information and advocacy for our community, which encompasses a wide range of conditions.
