Story

I’ve never been a runner. I’m definitely not built for running, in fact, running a marathon was never on my bingo card… unless it involved a taxi to the finish line. So how I’ve managed to get myself here is honestly beyond me.

But I always knew that if the opportunity ever came along, I would run in aid of Cransley Hospice and in memory of my Grampy. Every year I entered the London Marathon ballot thinking “maybe one day”… and this year, the reality of actually getting a place finally hit.

As soon as I got in, I knew I wanted to use this opportunity to give something back and continue a very special family connection. My dad ran the London Marathon in 2019 for Cransley in honour of my Grampy, and being able to follow in his footsteps and run in memory of him too feels incredibly special. Cransley holds such a meaningful place in our hearts as it does to many other families for their incredible work.

I’m quickly learning that marathon training isn’t just a physical challenge, it’s a HUGE mental one too. There will definitely be moments where motivation dips and the long runs feel tough. But I know that every mile I run will be fuelled by reminders of who I’m running for and why I signed up in the first place. So while I may not be Paula Radcliffe, I’ll be giving this everything I’ve got.

If you’re able to donate, no matter how big or small, it would mean the world. Your support will help Cransley continue providing specialist care, comfort and compassion to those who need it most.
