This organisation is close to both our hearts as thousands of rats suffer in unnecessary experiments every year in the UK. On the 28th April, just a few days after World Day for Animals in Laboratories, we will be running the Worthing Half Marathon.

Cruelty Free International is the leading organisation working to create a world where nobody wants or believes we need to experiment on animals.

Millions of animals suffer in cruel, outdated experiments every year across the globe. According to the latest Government figures, a total of of 2.76 million procedures on animals were completed in Great Britain in 2022. Out of the total number of procedures conducted, only 10% were required by law – the rest were conducted voluntarily.

Non-animal methods are often cheaper, quicker and more effective. Currently 90% of drugs fail in clinical trials despite the conduct of extensive prior animal tests suggesting that these medicines were safe and effective. Cruelty Free International encourages regulators to accept and promote the use of non-animal methods to replace animal testing.
