Story
In the heart of Didcot, a clandestine figure known as Yarnsy has been spinning a tale of community and creativity, one yarn bomb at a time. From crochet post-box toppers that crown the town’s mail to a pushbike wrapped in the warm embrace of wool, Yarnsy’s handiwork is a testament to the joy of giving.
This year, Yarnsy’s craft takes on a new dimension with Oxtrail 2024, a fundraising event to support Sobell House. Among the herd of painted oxen, one mini-Ox stands out, yarn bombed with love and named Tony, in honor of a grandfather whose memory is as enduring as the stitches that hold the yarn together.
As Oxtrail 2024 grazes closer, Yarnsy is gearing up to unveil four postbox toppers that promise to be the talk of the town, each a celebration of the event’s theme and a beacon of community spirit in Didcot and Oxford.
For the first time, Yarnsy is weaving a request into the fabric of their art: a call for donations through this JustGiving page. It’s a one-off appeal, but the aim is to raise a pasture of funds for a charity that’s close to the heart.
